Located in our Perth office, this key position is responsible for managing and supervising the legal operations of YMAC in accordance with the rules of incorporation, relevant incorporation legislation and the provisions of the Native Title Act 1993.

This position requires a positive and innovative thinking individual who will be an experienced lawyer with an appreciation of the issues and trends impacting upon Indigenous Australians. You will be able to advise on native title, Aboriginal heritage, mining and environmental laws, contractual negotiations, corporate compliance, litigation and alternative dispute resolution.
You will have suitable tertiary qualifications in law, 10 years’ experience in provision of legal services. Proven experience in General litigation, resources law, mediation or capacity to be an effective mediator.
Experience working in regional or rural Australia with Indigenous people with a sound knowledge and ability to work in a manner consistent with good corporate governance.
Excellent project management, problem solving, negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is a demonstrated ability to effectively manage and lead a multi-disciplinary team of people and work cooperatively as part of an Executive Management Team.
